At least 12 Taliban insurgents were killed in the operation conducted Saturday night in Dasht-e-Archi district in northern Kunduz, officials said Sunday.
Seven insurgents were also wounded in the operation conducted by Afghan security force members.
Security officials said in a statement that the operation still continues in Dasht-e-Archi of Kunduz – which fell to Taliban about two months ago.
The Taliban have however not yet commented on the casualties they suffered.
The security forces about two weeks ago eventually took control of Dasht-e-Archi after two years.
