16 Insurgents Renounce Violence In Herat

At least 16 insurgents have renounced violence in western Herat province and joined the peace process, local officials said on Wednesday.

Provincial Police Chief Mohammad Ayoub Ansari says these men fought against government in Shindand, Aderskan and Ghorian districts of the province.

In the meantime, Mohammad Asif Rahimi, the provincial governor, says that those who joined the peace process will help security forces provide security in insecure areas.

However, the officials did not provide more details.
