Local officials said Saturday that at least 225 Daesh fighters were killed in Nangarhar offensives over the past week.
The officials said most of the casualties were incurred to the insurgents by foreign troops’ air raids that targeted the militants’ hideouts in Kot district.
The clash started when a group of Daesh rebels attacked security forces’ outposts in the district.
This comes after reports indicated that nearly 500 families were displaced in Kot battle.
Nangarhar governor Salim Kunduzi said that Daesh militants had torched nearly 90 houses in the district.
He said they will provide the displaced families with facilities and other required assistance.
