In the run up to the semifinals, De Spinghar Bazan beat Oqaban Hindukosh 2-0 in a Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) tournament on Wednesday.
Bazan struggled for 29 minutes until they finally got a chance to open their opponents goal through their midfielder Faqir Hussain Hamti.
The first half ended 1-0 for Bazan despite strong efforts and a number of attacks by Oqaban to make the equalizer.
As the fight for the next round went on in the second half, Bazan made its position stronger when Ahmad Reshad Hussain Zada scored the second goal in the very final minutes of the game.
This comes after last week Shaheen Asmayee of Kabul defeated Kandahar’s De Maiwand Atalan 1-0 and qualified for the semifinals.
So far, only two teams have qualified for semifinals. Two more matches will be played this week, the first one on Thursday between Toofan Harirod and Simorgh Alborz and the second on Friday between Mawjhai Amu and De Abasin Sape.
“RAPL matches are being improved each year,” Oqaban player Zemarai Salangi said. “The teams that were weak last year are now playing like champions.”
All of the group stage matches will start at 4:00 pm local time this season. The matches will broadcast live on TOLO TV, Lemar TV, Arman FM and Arakozai FM. Matches will also be available on the RAPL YouTube page (www.youtube.com/afghanpremierleague)
