Border Police Seize Bomb-Making Ammonium Nitrate

Afghan National Border Police (ANBP) on Saturday night seized 9,310 kgs of ammonium nitrate, a key component used to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), that was coming in from Pakistan.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Sunday that ammonium nitrate “was placed in a Pakistani truck transporting (it ) to Afghanistan”.

The MoI said police stopped and search the truck at Torkham border crossing where they found the ammonium nitrate.

The driver was arrested in connection with the case, the MoI said.
