Security officials in the northern province of Kunduz have said that the Afghan security forces have killed at least 80 Taliban fighters and wounded another 50 during the fierce fighting erupted between the two sides over the past few days.

The clash between the Taliban and the Afghan forces erupted Friday morning after the group launched coordinated attacks on the center of the province and some districts, however the insurgents faced strong retaliation from the security forces.
Meanwhile a number of analysts have stressed the need for more supplies to be provided to the security forces battling Taliban in the volatile province.
