King Amanullah Khan led Afghanistan to independence from the United Kingdom in 1919, but since then the country has experienced many ups and downs. However the government of the day always celebrated August 19.
In the past decade the heavy presence of foreign troops in the country has cast a shadow, and now British troops have once again returned to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and Daesh.
Besides this, the country is also heavily dependent on Western countries for aid.
