King Amanullah Khan led Afghanistan to independence from the United Kingdom in 1919, but since then the country has experienced many ups and downs. However ‎the government of the day always celebrated August 19.

In the past decade the heavy presence of foreign troops in the country has cast a shadow, and now British troops have once again returned to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and Daesh.

Besides this, the country is also heavily dependent on Western countries for aid.
