A well organized attack was launched on Monday against the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) which saw MPs being hastily evacuated from the national assembly after a car bomb rocked the building.

The incident took place at about 10:20 am as the second vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danish was about to introduce the minister of defense nominee to MPs for a vote of confidence.
Afghan National Army Sergeant Eisa Khan turned out to be the hero of the day after he personally killed six of the seven insurgents that launched the attack. He said however, that officers on duty at Parliament had been prepared as intelligence reports received a few days earlier indicated am attack had been planned.
