At least five insurgents were arrested by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a special operation in eastern Nangarhar province, the NDS said in a statement late Monday.
The insurgents were captured in the 5th District of Jalalabad, the capital of the province, read the statement.
The arrested people were involved in “terror [attacks] of innocent people, placing of roadside mines and insurgency attacks in the province,” it said.
The statement did not provide more details about the operation.
The arrest comes after insurgents recently increased their activities in the eastern parts of Afghanistan specially in Nangarhar and frequently attack security force outposts.
