Five Taliban Insurgents Killed in Heavy Clashes in Baghlan


At least five Taliban insurgents were killed in heavy clashes with the Afghan security forces in northern Baghlan province on Tuesday, local officials said Wednesday.

In addition, 14 other Taliban insurgents were injured.

The clashes took place in Dand-e-Ghori area in Pul-e-Khumri city of Baghlan after dozens Taliban insurgents attacked security outposts and started clashes on Tuesday, Provincial Police Chief, Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdely said.

“The clashes still continue between the Taliban insurgents and Afghan security forces. Two policemen so far have been killed and 18 were also injured during the clashes,” he said.

Purdely has also confirming that the insurgents have seized some parts of Dand-e-Ghori.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the clashes.
