Forces Retake Five Police Posts in Jalrez as Clashes Still Continue

The security have so far been able to retake control of five police posts in Jalrez, one of the most unsafe districts in Central Maidan Wardak, a day after ‎after the Taliban insurgents seized almost all the checkpoints in the district.

Khalilullah Andrabi, Police Chief of Wardak confirmed that still four other security shells were under control of the Taliban. He however said fighting was underway with the insurgents to secure back the control of these posts.

“Additional troops have been deployed to the area to support the local forces,” Andrabi said. “So far, 30 insurgents have been killed and 48 others wounded.”

The fighting broke out late Thursday after a number of insurgents stormed the district, reportedly killing 18 police in Jalrez.

However, ‎the Taliban have not yet commented on Jalreza fighting.
