Ghani Emphasizes Regional Cooperation at BRICS Summit

President Ashraf Ghani at BRICS summit in Ufa, Russia, once again linked the regional security and stability to the security and stability of Afghanistan .

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, President Ghani left Kabul on Thursday for a two-day official visit to Russia to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS summits.

Ghani maintained at the meeting of BRICS leaders that ‎Afghanistan was a center of cooperation, not a land for competition.

Ghani asked for a regional cooperation ‎to eliminate current threats posed to the regional security‎.

Meanwhile in a meeting with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Ghani stressed the need for a broader relations with Tajikistan and emphasized to turn the Afghan-Tajik border into a symbol of friendship.

In addition, Ghani also met with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and sought further cooperation between the two countries.
