Ghani Promises Public Trial For Farah Kidnappers

Ghani-17-Nov

President Ashraf Ghani has promised a public trial for the kidnappers of a six-year-old boy, Naweed, who was abducted by a number of unknown men in western Farah province last month.

Ghani phoned the father of the boy on Wednesday after the child was rescued by National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives on Tuesday.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

The boy was kidnapped close to his home in Farah city 40 days ago, according to the NDS.

The abductors reportedly sent a video of the kidnapped boy to his family and asked for $100,000 USD as ransom.

Ghani said that the government is obliged to ensure the safety of the people and their property, warning that the government will react strictly against those who commit crimes.
