Local security officials in Helmand said on Sunday that heavy clashes are ongoing in Garmsir district in the province and that all shops have been closed in the district’s main market since Saturday.
According to TOLOnews’ Karim Amini, Garmsir’s main market fell to the Taliban on Saturday but was retaken on Sunday.
He quoted local officials, saying that security forces have control over the district chief’s office, police chief office and an army battalion in the district while other parts witness the presence of Taliban.
Meanwhile, a number of Garmsir residents said they are fed up with the situation and that they want an end to insecurity and conflict in their district.
