Afghanistan’s national cricket team on Friday beat the Netherlands by 16 runs in the ICC T20 warm-up match in Mohali city in India.
Afghanistan won the toss and batted first and set a 152 target, for seven wickets, in 20 overs. The Netherlands needed 153 to win.
From Afghan squad, Samiullah Shinwari made 42 runs, Asghar Stanikzai made 25, Shafiqullah 24 and Gulbuddin Nayib made 23 runs and led Afghanistan to victory.
But the Holland squad made 136 runs in 20 overs. They lost four wickets.
In this game, bowlers Dawlat Zadran, Samiullah Shinwari, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Aman took the four wickets from the rival team.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman Nasimullah Danish praised the national team’s plan that led them to beat Holland and wished them further success in their next matches.
Danish said Afghan players have always made their country proud and won a number of international games.
Meanwhile, the ACB Executive Chief Shafiqullah Stanikzai hailed the win by the cricket team and said they used their skills well.
He added that the national cricket team is fully prepared for the world cup.
