Head of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) party Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in his Eid message said that the delay in signing the peace deal between government and his party was due to problems inside government.
He said that the war – that he previously called jihad – is not in the country’s favor.
Analysts said they believe that the remarks by Hekmatyar against insurgency should have been stated years ago.
The remarks by Hekmatyar come at a time that talks with government appear to have stalled.
He also brought up the subject of districts falling to the Taliban only to be retaken by security forces. He said security forces are losing their lives and that countries fueling the war in Afghanistan should be warned, as one day it will affect them.
He called on government to take measures against powerful elements in the country working for themselves.
Hekmatyar also called on all Afghan refugees to return to their country.
