Mohammad Shahzad, Afghanistan’s 28-year-old cricket player, is ranked the eighth best batsman in the world.
Until recently, he was ranked 12 on the ICC T20I log.
Shahzad has played 39 One Day International (ODI) matches and 42 T20 matches. He has notched up a total of 1,206 runs in T20I matches for his country.
Shahzad was born in eastern Nangarhar province but left the country during the civil war. He then lived in Pakistan, where his love for cricket started.
He returned to his country of origin after former Hamid Karzai came into power – but continued to play cricket.
He has worn the national cap for Afghanistan since 2009.
