Takhar's Ishkamesh Cleared of Taliban: Officials

Jawid Neyazee, a spokesman for northern Takhar province’s police said on Wednesday that Ishkamesh district of Takhar has been cleared of Taliban after a military operation.

Neyazee said that 18 Taliban insurgents including Qari Ramatullah, deputy shadow district governor, were killed in clashes with security forces on Tuesday night.

However, he did not provide details about the operation.

This comes after Taliban insurgents recently seized some parts of Durqad district of the province after launching attacks against security forces.

The operation is still ongoing in Durqad to clear all insurgents, according to officials.
