United States President Barack Obama withheld his previous draw down plan and announced Thursday to keep the current posture of forces, 9,800, in Afghanistan till the end of 2016.
In addition, he announced that after 2016, when he leaves the office, 5,500 soldiers will remain in the war-weary country.
Also, the U.S defense secretary Ashton Carter said that Washington will not abandon Afghanistan to make sure the achievements made over the past decade are protected.
