Three Women Lose Their Lives in North

At least three women have died over the past 24 hours as a result of domestic violence and suicide in northern Afghanistan.

The first incident took place on Wednesday night in Doshi district in Baghlan after a woman was killed by her husband and her brother.

Baghlan woman’s affairs director, Khadija Yaqeen, confirmed the incident and said the woman was killed in a domestic violence incident.

The police have arrested the victim’s brother who was also involved in the murder, Yaqeen added.

In another incident, a girl committed suicide in Sheberghan, the provincial capital in Jawzjan.

The reason behind the incident is unclear and no arrests have been made, provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said.

The third incident also happened in Sheberghan when a girl was found dead at her home on Wednesday night.

The reason for her death has not been verified but Jawzjani says she might have died of a heart attack.

Her family was however not at home when she died, the police chief added.
