A civil society group, Protection of Civilians Group, on Thursday urged UNAMA and Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) to assess all alleged crimes against humanity committed in Kunduz by insurgents after they seized the city three weeks ago. “The AIHRC and UNAMA should send all their findings to the international court if they find that crimes against humanity have been committed in Kunduz,” said Karima Karimi, a member of the Protection of Civilians Group.

New commissioners are set to be appointed within the next 37 days to run Afghanistan’s election management bodies – the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) – a senior official of the Electoral Reform Commission (ERC) was quoted as saying on Thursday. The statement comes after the establishment of the ERC came under fire from serving officials of the country’s electoral bodies, the ECC and IEC, who called the move unconstitutional.
