At least two civilians, including a woman, were killed and 51 injured in a suicide attack near police headquarters in southern Helmand province early Tuesday, local officials said.
The attack took place in Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand, after a suicide car bomber detonated his explosives near the police headquarters, a spokesman for provincial governor, Omar Zwak said.
All the victims were reportedly civilians and they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a witness said that three other insurgents tried to enter the building after the suicide bomber detonated his explosives. However, witnesses say one gunman was gunned down by police but the other two fled the scene.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
