The National U-12 Football Team has recorded two victories in the third round of the Asian Football Tournament against Bangladesh and the B-Team of South Korea.
The national squad ended 1-0 up against Bangladesh and 4-0 up against South Korea’s B Team.
After beating Bangladesh and South Korea, the U-12 Afghan team entered the second round of the tournament as leader in the group.
Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) praised the players for their victory and said their investment in the boys is paying off.
“We held an U-12 league all over the country and we invested a lot into it. We paid more attention towards this sport,” AFF technical deputy, Mohammad Yousuf Kargar, told TOLOnews.
“These players are the future of Afghanistan’s football and I believe that Afghanistan will be the champions in the U-12 tournament. Our team has played very well and is in the lead in the group,” he said.
The Asian U-12 Football Tournament is being played by 16 teams and is currently on in South Korea.
Last year, the U-16 Afghan squad clinched second position in the Asian Football Tournament.
