World Blood Donor Day Marked

Every year World Blood Donor Day, June 14, is marked around the world. This year the theme was “blood connects us all”.

Enayatullah Hashimi, head of Afghanistan’s Central Blood Bank, said that on a daily basis the bank is able to collect nearly 50,000 cc’s of blood.

Hashimi said that people’s awareness around blood donation and the culture of donating blood has increased in recent years.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has meanwhile said that a healthy man can donate four times a year and a healthy woman three times a year.
